Hi I am about to purchase 2 items, one is a wireless adapter with an external antenna connector and the other an wireless directional antenna. My goal is to successfully connect these two items together. So i was hoping u experts can help me get the name of an extension cable with compatible connectors on the two ends so that when all the items arrive i can connect each of them together without any hiccups...At least if i can get the names of the 2 connectors that i need I don't mind finding them on an extension cable on my own..Your assistance would be deeply appreciated...thank you.
Here's the links for the two items:

The Wireless adapter has a RP-SMA connector, most likely a male connector.

Make sure, you specify to the vendor that the Wireless Antenna needs a Female RP-SMA

Also, you wan to be dead on for these connectors, espacially RP (Reverse Polarity) - SMA.

If you have to purchase additional pigtails, or adapters, you will see significant signal loss.

Adapters cause somewhere around 3db's of signal loss, and pigtails usually should not exceed a few inches, since the pigtail cable is considered a loss.

If the pigtail is too long, it will become the antenna, and your directional antenna will merely function as a terminator.

ok well I think i understand u..But what I wanted really is to remove the antenna that is attached onto the alfa adapter and use a better directional antenna so that I wud be able to at least mount it up outside....If i am not making the right choice where the directional patch antenna is concerned could u please guide me to a more decent directional antenna that would maximize my signal strength?

the directional antenna you want to purchase in addition to the adapter is fine.

I already assumed you are going to do this, just make sure, when you purchase the directional antenna, get a rp-sma female connector.

ok  let me see if i can break it down as to what is confusing me.For the hyperlink hypergain antenna..I want to know what type connector is supposed to be on both ends..Is it a rp-sma to n-male..or what?I wanna know the name of the connectors on both ends..So i can just screw in one end of the cable into the alfa adapter and the other end into the hyperlink antenna...That is what I would like to clarify..Thanks.

Most wifi adapters have a male connector.

Most wifi antennas have a female connector.

Make sure, you get a female rp-sma connector for the antenna you are purchasing.

Again, rp-sma male is the connector on wireless card.

You need a rp-sma female connector on the antenna you are purchasing.

Just think about sex-ed on this one.....

now that's what i call an explanation..thanks a lot now i am good to go...i must thank you for the l-com link where i can specify what type connector i would need.I think my best bet is to purchase the antenna from that website instead..but i would email amazon.com first and see if they can get it changed..cause its seems like its a pigtail connection in the pic on amazon.com...now to get a low loss cable...thanks again mate.
