Getting a new internal hard drive for my macbook pro

Hi,

I need to get a new internal drive for my macbook pro. I took the old (busted) drive out. Says:

Hitachi
Model: HTS541612J9SA00
120gb
SATA
2.5 inch

so if I just go to BestBuy or the like, they should be able to give me a new compatible drive, right?

Thanks

Yes, this is a normal drive, you can replace it with another SATA 2.5 inch drive, it does not need to be identical model #....

Additional note, you had a 5400 RPM drive... you may want to look for a 7200 RPM drive, you will notice a speed difference....

Yeah the battery already is awful on this machine, might as well go 7200,

Thanks

Yep, but they'll overcharge...

You may want to head to Fry's (if you have it). Better prices, and I've found that the people behind the desk there actually know something.

Just make sure it's a SATA drive, 2.5" - those are the important specs.

You will need to reinstall your OS, of course. It will be an unformatted drive, so before starting the install process you will need to use Disk Utility to create a partition for it.
