Log shipping works with the standard version also. Anyways i did this, this error comes when you are taking the back up over the  remote machine.

It comes in standby mode. If i do the log shipment 2,3 times, it will work. but its a time consuming for big databases.

can you please tell what is your sql servers version, service pack?

if it is sql server 2000- you need at least sp3a (there is sp4 + 30patches)

if it is sql server 2005 - you would need sp3 ..

I have Sql server 2005, with SP3, Standard Edition.

When i start the transaction log shipping for the database, it stops in between while doing the backup and give the attached error. It usually happens during backup and before copy and restore operation.

As I know the log shipping works only with Enterprise Edition:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa213785(SQL.80).aspx

"Administering SQL Server (SQL Server 2000)
Log Shipping
In Microsoft® SQL Server™ 2000 Enterprise Edition, you can use log shipping to feed transaction logs from one database to another on a constant basis."
