Our company has EMC Clariion CX700 and now looking to buy CX4. I just like to know the differences between these two units in terms of hardware and software configuration.

CX series and CX4 series both have 4 bus loops, but CX has 2gb/sec output speed and CX4 has 8 GB/sec speeds.cx4 series memory has beed a big change, as it can be max of 10.6 GB(Almost) Usable for writes.
Two power supply for CX, and three power supply cards for CX3 onwards for SP modules...

Software side thin provisioning is enabled in CX4 and introduced flash drives in CX4 if required.Flash drives are 30 times faster than normal FC drives saving 1/3 of power compared to normal drives.
cx can go to 26 flare max and cx4 comes with 28 flare , which has many other features.

You can grow CX4 array to 960 drives and cx700 does not support these many.

Thank you for responding my question it was helpful.

I'm taking a training on CX700, but my client is getting CX4. Are there any differences in setting up and configuring CX4 compare to CX700?

Also are there any changes in using Navisphere, configuring mirror view, san copy, snap view etc.

    Thanks in advance.

For managing and configuring both are almost same.
    HW looks diff ....
    COnfig is same process.
Navi has slight changes like thin pools..... (Thin provisioning is avail in cx4)
No changes in repli sw like mirror view, san copy, san view/clones.

forgot to say you should see changes on navi from flare code to clare code not the model . ex cx700 can go upto 26 flare and cx4 comes with 28 flare min.

If you use cx700 with 19 flare then you may see many changes in navi for storage provision... as three more flares codes (22,24,26)released before 28 flare.

Finally you can easily figure out the changes, if you already know about cx700.(Not a problem at all).
