Print Dialog Box hangs when printing to network printer

When we print from our application, the print box appears and we select our printer.  When we click ok to print, the print box hangs there for about 30 seconds and then the print job is sent to the printer.  This does not happen on all of our computers, but it does on some.  Any ideas on why the print dialog box would hang on the screen then disappear after about 30 seconds?  These PCs are windows xp.

Thank you,

Check to see if the PCs that are slow have additional printers installed.

Sometimes when you have multiple printers and some of them are "Offline" it can cause delays as the print queues are attempted to be inspected.

In short, delete any old/broken or unused printers.

Your printer settings (on clients) that must be checked :
render print jobs on client computers
always available
spool print documents so program finishes printing faster
start printing immediately
enable advanced printing features

and remember,if you have more than one printer you must check if your hub can
handle that.

I checked all the settings.  There is one printer on the pc.  It is always available, spool print documents, start printing immediately, and enable advanced printing features are set.   Render print jobs on client pcs?  Is this a setting?

Thank you for your help.

Here's something. I had to reinstall windows on this pc.  I remember now that this started to happen after I installed IE7.  I removed IE7 last night and now the printing is fine again.  Any ideas on why that would be?
