While copying sentences in Microsoft Word 20007 (version 12.0.6514.5000), a lot of times when I paste the copied sentence, an entire screenshot is pasted instead of the sentence I have previously selected.

What can I do to fix this?

My operating system is Windows XP Service Pack 3 and I am using Office 2007 Microsoft Word 20007 (version 12.0.6514.5000).

How do you copy? Select the text and then Ctrl-C or Copy from the Edit menu?

I have copied and pasted using both methods. Every time that I have copied, I get the results that I have described above.

Try a different keyboard (borrowed one).

If you are getting a screenshot of your Word document it seems that the computer thinks that PrsScr has been pressed instead of CTRL-C.  I'd try the keyboard first before anything else.

Since it happens when you select copy from the menu as well the keyboard, I don't think its the keyboard itself. However, does this happen in other programs? Even try Wordpad if you don't have any other program to try.

1. If its only Word, try running Word in safe mode (Stat, Run, winword /safe, OK). If that works, then the problem is an add-in or a Word setting.

2. If it happens in outside of Word, I'm thinking maybe something else is interfering like another program. Try running Windows in safe mode (keep pressing F8 at startup until you get the start options and then chose safe mode).

Depending on the results of 1 and 2, we can focus on where to look for the problem.

The last Copy/Paste question in Word on this forum was revolved by restarting the system. However that was a Word 2003 user.

If that doesn't work, run through these troubleshooting steps from Microsoft.

Does anyone know of any solutions that will resolve this issue for a Windows 2007 user?

The article that GrahamSkan mentioned is applicable to Word 2007. But before you spend any more time troubleshooting Word, you should make sure the problem is Word and not Windows using the methods I pointed out.
