Wireless Router Security Code

I am attempting to connect a Nintendo Wii to my wireless router (LinkSys WRT54GS) and I am not able to get into the router to get the security code.  When I open the LinkSys Advisor, it says I must be logged on as Administrator even though I am logged on as administrator.  My operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium.  I tried creating a user password and that did not help.  Any ideas on how I can get into the router?

You could try resetting the router. There should be a little button inside an indentation somewhere on the back or bottom. Put a pin in there and hold it down for a few seconds.

A warning though this will reset the device back to factory and you will have to reconfigure anything that might have been set up on it.

I thought of that but I'm concerned if I can't access it now (administrator issue) can I access it after the reset to reconfigure.

Well there are two things here. Are you attempting to run the linksys software or are you attempting to connect directly to the router itself.

You should be able to open up internet explorer or mozllla and go to the web address of the router. Usually it is 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.100.1

You can get this address by typing ipconfig /all on a computer and finding the default gateway.

See if you can gain admin access to the router this way.

I was able to access the router.  What I need to do is access the security code to connect to the Wii.

I tried the original setup CD, but it said it was incompatible with Windows 7

I had the security code written down, but it doesn't work.

I finally found the correct tab in the router setup that showed the current access code.  All is well.  I'll award 300 points for the help.
