Gmail

Several months ago I set up a gmail account to act as an alternate email.

Now I want to use it (my normal email is down).

How do I log in & USE Gmail?

I am a 30 year computer professional & I CANNOT figure that out. Either I got totally stupid or there is something DREADFULLY wrong with what you have to go through to access gmail.

Any help would be GREATFULLY appreciated.

leakim971 is correct but if you have a gmail account you can just type in your username without typing @gmail.com.... it will save you a little time :-)

Also, Gmail supports POP or MAPI so if you wish, you can download or synch with your client.  I use Outlook with gmail as my primary provider.

I don't think gmail suppot MAPI, it does support POP3 and IMAP.  However, you have to enabled POP3 and/or IMAP on your account before you can use it.

you are correct giltjr, gmail only support POP3, SMTP via TLS encryption and IMAP on SSL...

You will have to login to gmail to enable your account for these protocol's, you do not have to pay to use it..

I figured that. There just another another one of the acronyms that is so close to another one, is used for the same purpose, but works totally different.  Like SFTP and FTPS.

Hey!  If you can memorize all the acronyms, the programming stuff is child's play!  :)

You have choosen it as an alternative email address, however it was not beloging to you!  Try to create the account if it not in use, good luck.
