Philips DVDR 3510V Tray won't open; Blocked on display

Philips DVDR 3510V tray won't open and Blocked is displayed on the DVD.
Upgraded to the latest firmware version but still have problem.
Am able to open the tray manually by using slider switch.

This seems to happen accross the Philips DVDR range and is the firmware detecting a mechanical problem and shutting down the tray motor to protect it.  Although these links aren't for your model the fixes seem fairly universal:
