Unable to see DVD drive when in XP Mode on Windows 7

I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64bit.

When I'm in XP Mode, I'm not able to access my DVD drive. I was under the impression that I would be able to see all my mapped drives and DVD drive, is that correct?

Thank you

Yes, you are supposed to be able to use it.  Seems like there is a device error in XP Mode.  Check the drivers under device manager in XP mode to make sure it's showing.

nope, no question marks in device manager.

It shows there is a D drive in xp mode, but when I click it says nothing is there. But I know there is a disk in the D drive on the actual machine?

Any other suggestions?

You could try removing the device under device manager in XP Mode and reinstall it using XP drivers under XP mode and see if that does the trick.

That's normal in Win7. Your DVD Drive is a virtual device. You need to look under "Other" You will see the drive that correlates to the correct dvd drive on your computer.

For instance in my setup, I have Local Disk C: 3 1/2 Floppy A: DVD Drive D: (But the DVD isn't my DVD Drive)

Under Other, I have F on W7_Myworkstationname (This drive is my first dvd drive) and G on W7_myworkstationname is my other dvd drive.
