Adding a second DC to my 2003 domain and getting an error

I am running "dcpromo" and selecting Additional domain controller for existing domain and once running it fails with the following error.

The operation failed because:
The Active Directory Installation Wizaard cannot continue because the forest is not prepared for installing Windows server 2003.   Use the Adprep command-line tool to prepare both the forest and the domain.  For more information abotu using the Adprep, see Active Directory Help.

"The version of the Active Directory schema of the source forest is not compatible with the version of Active Directory on this computer"

What am I doing wrong?     I am suposed to run this on the member server, correct?

If you are going to an R2 then you must prep the domain from the R2 disk run adprep and forestprep to prep the domain for this verison of OS.

How many other DCs do you have? What OS are they running?

The error states that your domain is not prepared for a Windows 2003 server to become a DC. Do you have other Windows 2003 server DCs?

My Original DC is Basic 2003 (Didn't knot that in the beginning) the member server is 2003 R2.   Am I going to be able to use it?

Will it affect any of my users or servers, while I am doing this dcpromo on the original DC server?

Darius GhassemCommented:
No, this is all transparent to the users.

It is asking me if all my DC's  are on Windows 2000 SP2 or Later.   My second DC is already on Windows 2003 SP2 so I guess it is ok to proceed, correct?
