Give Full access to a folder in c: using GPO

Hey Guys,

Just wondering users who dont have admin permission on a PC, can I give them full access to a folder in c: with maybe some quota. Using GPO?

Yes this can be done quite easily using group policy. See the below step by step from MS. Use gpmc.msc instead of gpedit.msc to make your policy for your domain.

Create a new GPO (or use an existing one) Go to Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\File System, right-click and add the folder location Configure the permissions you need

You are on the right track that is the correct place you want to do it. What you will do at this point now is to right click in the pane over to the right and select "add file..." This will bring up a file browser window at this point you can select the folder you want to give access to. Once you select the folder you will be given a security permissions dialog where you can choose what user/group to have access. After you make your security settings and click ok you should see the file system object appear in the right pane.

This one always confuses me. So this gpo would go on the users OU or computers OU?

Can it be done on either?

GPO always you can apply for both

here i prefer applying to users
