How do I generate bookmarks in a PDF automatically from a barcode

My problem:

I need to scan in a 250 page document and automatically generate some bookmarks. Ideally I'd like to do this via a control page with a barcode that is then excluded from the PDF.

I can do some of it via a plug-in but not the barcode nor the page exclusion.

Any ideas or products out there that will help.

Thanks for your time :)

Actually, you can do all of that with a custom plug-in, but it will not be easy: You need to write a plug-in that will go through all your pages and look for the barcode. If it does find the barcode, it will read the barcode, will extract the data that you want to convert to a bookmark, then delete the page with the barcode and create the bookmark for the corresponding page.
An Acrobat plug-in has access to all the information in a PDF file, but again, you need to write the code to do all that.
Do you know how to create plug-ins?

Hi Thaks for the information but alas no plugin writing skills here.

Have found a product 'scantoPDF' that does 99% of what I require.
