Temporary WAN Solution

I need a temporary solution for my business. We are in the transition phase of opening a new branch and will lose access to our leased WAN connection temporarily. Both of our branches will have an ADSL2+ internet connection but no ability to run a WAN in the short term.

What will be the best way to network both of these branches temporarily whilst the new leased line is being setup?

Thanks for your suggestions!!!

Sounds like its really a job for a couple of mobile broadband thingys with a tunnel between them. Might be a lot of trouble though if its only a temporary arrangement.

Sorry Mike, what do you mean by mobile broadband thingys?

The branches are around 3kms apart.

Also, it will only be for around 1-2 months so very temporary but essential, as we cannot shutdown the offices for that long.

    Accepted Solution

If you already have Internet connectivity at both sites you could create a branch office VPN tunnel between them assuming you also have the hardware to do that. I think what Mike is referring to is using wireless broadband with a VPN tunnel as an interim solution

In Ireland we call it mobile broadband... presumably in the US it's called cellular broadband or somehting like that... sorry, I'm stuck on the name. Small memory key sized devide with a sim card that provides broadband connectivity. They can work independently by just plugging in to a PC or notebook and can be 'routerised'.
