If you have taken a backup of the blackberry data at any point, recovering the data from the backup file is pretty straight forward.    At any time did you create a backup, or perhaps grab a backup before a code upgrade?

well the deal is, the user left the company and deleted the data on the blackberry, we need to attempt recovery of the blackberry data (sms, email, contacts etc)
dont think the user has ever made a backup
Getting data off of a wiped blackberry is going to be beyond difficult.    Very high-end forensic labs can sometimes extract data from wiped devices, but that type of equipment and software is not available to the public.   The Blackberries are even more difficult because they have on eye on security as well.   The wipe is good enough for the feds, if that gives you an idea.

If you don't have a backup of the device, I would check the employee's PC/laptop to see if a backup was taken and stored there.    If the employee synch'd the BB with an exchange account, you should be able to restore older versions of his mailbox etc... and recover data that way.

But without a backup of some sort, I think you are out of luck.  Did he have a memory card?   If the card is available, you may want to try running that through a recovery app to see if anything can be found.

Is the device on BES or BIS? if it's BES, then why not attempt a recovery from the mailbox/email server? deleted contacts are stored in the deleted items folder (for exchange) as are deleted emails. text messages can't be retrieved, although your operator might be able to help you.
