Formula for Percent Change Between Two Years

Happy New Year Experts,

Can you provide me with the formula(s) to show the percent change between two years.  The data I need to evaluate will be a number and I will need to use the formula in Crystal Reports version 11, and in Microsoft SQL Server 2005.

Basic formula
     (Sum(Year2) - Sum(year1)) / Sum(year1)

What would the formula look like for each MONTH per year ?

SAme basic formula just use the totals for the month.
