Windows Update error 0x80070003

Server 2008 STD SP1 64 bit.
Running Windows Update this error is reported on the very first update to be installed. It takes about 20 minutes to get the error, seems like the update process keeps trying but ultimately fails. Stopped Update services, deleted DataStore, which deletes all update history, and reran Windows Update with same result.

Installed WUInstall, a command line update installer, and ran
wuinstall /search

but after waiting and waiting the search never returned any information.

Downloading and installing 2 different updates with the manual installers worked fine.

Hello gwa60060,

Could you get ref of the update, download it (yes again and if you find it) and install it manually.

Regards.

As I stated -
Downloading and installing 2 different updates with the manual installers worked fine.
