NVRAID Degraded RAID1 Please Help
Posted on 2010-01-05
Hi, we have Tyan server with nForce chipset running Windows 2003 Server. Our RAID1 array became degraded after server locked up and we had to power cycle it. When I logged in to the server console it appears we have two separate hard drives with volumes C:, D: and F: , G:. Under normal circumstances I used to remove one of the drives from the raid array using MediaShield utility and initiate the rebuild, however this time the MediaShield is not showing any raid volumes making it impossible to rebuild this RAID1 array.
Furthermore, it appears windows is booting up from F: volume. If I remove the disk that has C: and D: volumes on it from the server and attempt to boot up I cannot log in to windows console. I suspect the system path drive letter has changed after RAID became degraded. My guess the second disk is in good shape, however since MediaShield utility is not showing anything I cannot rebuild this RAID1 array.
Help is appreciated, thanks.
