I've been debugging for months in Visual Studio 2008 on a Vista computer by attaching to the wp3.exe running under network service. This is for test websites running under IIS, not the VS server. All of a sudden, the wp3.exe is showing up as being running using IIS APPPOOL\application name [administrator] which comes up with a security prompt each time I go to attach. Is there a way I can set it up to run under NetworkService again? I have several test websites and the are all the same way when I attach.
Thanks.

You can change the identity that the app pool runs under.

Open the IIS console, find the app pool the website uses.  Right click --> advanced settings --> Under identity, choose Network Service.  Do an IISRESET after.

IIS APPPOOL identity is new in IIS7 - its there to help create more security for websites that otherwise would have run under the shared network service account.
