is there a way in Exchange 2010 to setup a policy that looks at all items in a mailbox and will move them to a designated folder

I would like to do it from the server so the endusers have no interaction with ths, ie look at all foldersin mailbox, find all messages that are over 6 months old, then move to a folder in the mailbox (6 months or older)

you can do this using Managed Mailbox policies.

You need to set the managed content settings to look at the date of the items (When delivered, end date for calendar and recurring tasks)

Have you started or run the Managed folder assistant? Have you applied the policy to the mailbox in question?
