    there is Stop button in the tool bar (its red)

    Remember that there are some things that will not immediately stop as it will rollback things that it has done in the implicit transaction.

    So if you have clicked the red stop button and it is still going, you have to wait until it finishes because it is ensuring transactional consistency.
