Lotus Notes Importing Calendar

I have updated the Holidays for 2010 in the Admin client. A user called me and said that after importing the new calendar entries the old ones in his calendar were removed. Is there a way to prevent old entries from being removed. The user wants to retain those entries for some reason.

Cheers

    Hi there ChrisMinas,,,,

The only thing I really can recommend is to export the calander to a safe place do your Update then import it . However, I tried this on Lotus Notes 8.5 and I really dont know if it is going to work on the earlier versions or not ....

-Open the Calander on the LN client
- File
- Export
- Save as type === Calander file(.ics)
- Save it to the place you want .

Frankly, I dont know when you import it if it is going to over write the existing one or not

Best Wishes

My question (in fact, it might immediately answer your question): did you UPDATE the documents in the Admin client, or did you ADD new holidays?

If you updated the documents, did you leave the older dates??
Which Holidays do they complain about?

Hello sjef bosman.
I just added new holidays leaving the older holiday documents still there. I have checked my calendar and I still have the older holiday entries there. I will need to sit with the user and see what he has done.

Cheers

I tested with updated Holiday documents, and I do not have the updates in my mail database yet. Let's wait and see.

After running some more tests I was not able to delete documents unless I removed them from the Admin client. I spoke with the client again and it turns out the old holiday entries were not deleted after all. That's OK as  it gave me the opportunity to look further into this area of Notes.

Testing showed me that when you add new holiday entries they will be added to your calendar. If you delete holiday documents then those will be deleted from your calendar. As we are not deleting old holiday documents there was no reason to have them removed from ones calendar.

Thanks for your comments.

Kind regards
