Can you boot with Dell's array mgmt utilities?  From the DVD, you should be able to run a diagnostic to ensure your controller isn't having issues.

Try removing drive 1 (the one that was greyed out).

here is the answer number 1 drive is bad clicking and when the number 0 drive is plugged in the sata raid card wont boot the kernel trying diff cables and with one plugged in and yada yada with dell tech support for 2 hours.  we came to conclusion the only drive that will boot with card is drive 2 and that drive 0 is shorting it out. i will have to get all new drives and rebuild server from gorund up, it has ad on it.  I am going to make new domain and transfer all workstations to new domain. any better ideas?
Not unless you have a backup to simply restore ... unfortunately.
we have a carbonite backup of the server? Also has another server mught be a dc i have to check tomrrow. if it is i can keep domain and just switch all workstations to point to other server correct?
the other server is not a dc so i guess since i cant seize the roles and cant get any data off server and since it held all the roles.  i have to rebuild a new domain? and move all workstations to it? any other help?
