Getting an error: There is a problem with your selected data store. This can be caused by an invalid server name or credentials, or by insufficient permission. It can also be caused by the role manager feature not being enabled. Click the button below to be redirected to a page where you can choose a new data store.

The following message may help in diagnosing the problem: Sections must only appear once per config file. See the help topic for exceptions. (C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\fba\web.config line 30)

Have tried everything and need some help getting through this error. Can someone help? I posted the web.config file.

Also set defaultProvider attribute for membership and role provider if you want that to be used by default.
e.g.:
<membership defaultProvider="CustomMembershipProvider">

<roleManager enabled="true"
cacheRolesInCookie="false" createPersistentCookie="true"
defaultProvider="DefaultRoleProvider">

are you still getting same error message ?
Also are you having your own custom membership provider  as I see
---->  type="CustomMembershipProvider"
Or you just renamed it?

Make sure you have right connectionString and the user has access to the server and database.

Can you provide more info on how you setup your membership.
