install godaddy ssl certificate to OWA

I am running windows 2003 with exchange 2003. I want to install ssl certificate to OWA. I generated a certificate request within IIS 6 and upload to Godaddy. Godaddy did all the verification and told me to download the certificate. I download the certificate and unzip the certificate. The file extension is *.p7b. When I select this *.p7b file to add ssl to my OWA, IIS 6 complain because it cant process .p7b file and won't allow me to click next to finish installing certificate.  My question is how do i convert the *.p7b file to *.cer? Can i just rename the *.p7b file to *.cer? Will this cause problem to the certificate file?

thanks in advance

thats intermediate certificate you need to have root certificate as well

you need to have .Crt file as well, you should contact go daddy and get the .crt file so that you can import it.

There will be two parts to the certificate zip file.

There is exact instructions on the download screen with GoDaddy.

From the link that you sent I can't follow step 15 because I cant find "Go Daddy Class 2 Certification Authority certificate" why is that?could this be my problem?

I see mail.domainname.com issued by Startcom Class 1 Primary Intermediate Server CA which expired on 10/8/2009. should this be here? please note i am trying to renew my certificate with Godaddy.

thanks

Go to IIS > defaultwebsite > properties > directory security > view certificate and check if you have the correct certificate.

You can reset the virtual directories by using method 2 of kb 883380.
Then again try https://10.1.1.1/exchange
With http://10.1.1.1/exchange  you will get that error if you have require SSL check on Exchange virtual directory

within the VIEW CERTIFICATE: this certificate intended for following purpose:
*ensures the identity of a remote computer
*2.16.840.1.114413....

issued to: mail.domainname.com
issued by: go daddy secure certificate authority
valid from 1/6/2010 to 1/6/2012

therefore i think the certificate is install correctly right?

when you open the certificate do you have

"you have the private key for this certificate" showing ?

if you go the certification path any red x showing?

if the answer to the first is yes and to the second is no then yea it is installed just fine

When you access OWA please use https://mail.domainname.com/exchange not the IP with ip you will get error.
you need to use the same name as present in certificate.

have you assign the certificate to the default website ?

what happens if you go to https://mail.domain.com without the /exchange

this is what i get when i open https://mail.domain.com :

Connection Interrupted
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.

(on the lower right coner of firefox, i see mail.domain.com with the lock, if you out mouse cursor over it is say authenticated by godaddy inc)

ok ithink there is issue with non page memory ...... go to start > run > logfiles > HTTPERR > open latest logs and see if you geeting connection dropped or refused

Reboot the server and check again.

officertangoAuthor Commented:
i check the HTTPERR logfile and the lastest events showing TIMER_CONNECTIONIDLE but nothing at the time I was tesing the https connection. How about the W3SVC log? this log shows owa connection...

Narayan_singhCommented:
W3svc log wont be of much help at this point... did you try after rebooting the server.
Can you try to access OWA and default website again for couple of time and then see the logs again ?
If not memory issue i could be issue with IIS
What about reseting them did you do that method 2 of KB 883380

officertangoAuthor Commented:
I can't reboot the server until tonight. I am just worry about resetting method 2 of kb883380, i have never done it before and woulld hate to break mail flow.

Narayan_singhCommented:
it doesnt breake the mail flow ..... all it would do is interrupt OWA , ActiveSync and Rpc-https connection for a while (till the time you complete the steps)
