"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Most cloning software have an option to perform a "raw" copy. That mode copies the data sector by sector, copying everything, including deleted files. Look for that option in the settings.

However that options are advanced options, not the default ones. So if you are trying to recover deleted files from a cloned image the most probable is that there is nothing to find there.

I don't know for certain, but I suspect deleted files would only be included in the clone if you use the "sector-by-sector" ("raw") cloning method.
