SNMP MIBs

Hi,

I'm tryign to set up PRTG to monitor SNMP traps generated by HP servers amongst other things.  The MIBs I have downloaded from HP are incomprehensible, I really just want to monitor things like temperature, RAID controller status etc.  Most of the other stuff is already being monitored via WMI.

Can anyone tell me how to use the Hp MIBs or suggest another place I might find MIBs with a better structure?

Thanks,

Ciaran

Which MIB are you interested in?

I can help you identify MIB objects and their OIDs.

Hi Sameer,

Thanks for responding.  I'm interested in monitoring temperature gauges, Disk Failures etc.  I'd also like to do the same thing for MSA disk arrays etc.  I really don't know where to start, I downloaded a file from HP with over 400 MIB files in it.

Is this a correct URL to your product?

URL: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=315124&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=315122&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=54

The URL for MIB on this page shows only traps.

Could you please point me to the location where you got the MIBs from?

Typically, one could search for string like "temperature", read description of matching objects, write the object identifier of those objects, and add it to your list of polled objects.

Once I see the MIB I will be happy to help you search for these items.

download getif (free software) and browse the MIB already in your server and configure accordingly.
