Replacinig Motherboard in Dell Latitude d820

I have  a Dell Latitude d820 that will not power up at all.  My research leads me to the belief that the motherboard is shot.  I would like to replace it but it is out of warranty and replacement motherboards at Dell start at $425.00.  I decided to take a look on Ebay and found some available for about $130.00.

My question is, if a motherboard is compatible for a given machine, the d820 in this case, should it be ok?  Or is there another level of detail I need to look at to determine, "yes, this motherboard will work in this machine"?

If it is truly compatible then the answer is yes. Where people get into trouble sometimes is when they attempt to replace items that are proprietary with non proprietary items. If the item for sale states it is compatible for your D820 you might be on to something at a much lower price. If you can provide the link to the item that would help determine a yes or no answer.
The issues with changing a motherboard that is not the exact replacement are as follows: Will it fit in the space? Will the other components in the machine reconnect to it, power cables, drives, memory, etc? Do you have the drivers for the new board? An existing OS will need drivers for anything that is different on the new board.

Yes, That is a motherboard for your unit. It is probably referbished but if cost is the issue. It will work fine.
Sorry, I wan't certain if you meant those motherboards in general or a particular one from the list.  Did you mean the very first item for $139.00?
