Some Program Icons (iTunes, Excel) Pictures have gone away on Taskbar in Windows 7 (blank pic)

On a Windows 7 Home Premium system (64 bit ) I had pinned several program to task bar.

All the Program Icons had normal picture.  Now, iTunes and Excel Program Icon Picture have gone to some default Program Icon.  If you go to Start -> All Program the Icons Picture are fine.
I tried deleting the pinned Icon and repin the iTunes and Excel Progams but the Program Icons stays blank.  Other Program Icons in Task Bar are fine.

rdwolf,

Per the following link: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itproappcompat/thread/85e9b61f-e68e-410f-9cc9-70befbb4a61a

Please try rebuild the icon cache and see if the issue can be resolved. For your reference, I have included the steps below:

Rebuild icon cache
========
1. Click Start, and open Computer.
2. On the Tool bar, click Organize and choose Folder and Search Options.
3. Click the View tab, and check to select the Show hidden files and folders option, and click OK.
4. Then, enter the following directory:

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local

5. Find the IconCache.db file, and rename it as IconCache.db.old.
6. Close the window, and restart the computer.

 Regards,
Kevin

The solution (rebuild the icon cache)  did not work.  The iTunes and the Excel Program icons on the taskbar remain the blank defalult picture.   Other icons on the task bar are still fine.

Any other ideas on how to fix this?

rdwolf,

See this link:

Strange solution (the running as admin) but perhaps the access to the file location of these icons is not high enough and the windows security features are blocking access?
