Time-Off Request Solution

I want to create a time-off request form in sharepoint with a workflow and tracking process.  I have books and have looked online but I'm struggling.  Can anyone point me to a good a-z source for a beginner that will walk me through it?

ha.  i'm actually working on the same thing right now.

i started with the MS Absence and Vacation Request template, and have done some pretty heavy customizations using Sharepoint Designer.

so, i'd recommend you start with the template, and then work on customizing it.  when you run into something you don't know how to do, ask on EE!

It was a great response but not knowing how to use designer it was not specifically helpful to me.

why not ask for help with specific SPD tasks?  if you want to do some kind of customization, particularly with workflows, you'll want to learn SPD.  well, unless you're using Visual Studio?  in that case, you can customize the template using VS.

you aren't going to be able to do much without either SPD or VS.  you will want to start learning one or the other.  SPD is easier for those who don't have a programming background. VS tends to be reliant on coding knowledge.
