From what I can find the laptop has an hdmi port if the tv also has hdmi then all you need is an hdmi cable. If the tv doesn't have hdmi please list what inputs it does have.

You know what I have seen many many times, the good old VGA cables work very well too, and sometimes even better. I'm pretty sure your TV has VGA intput too, try that if you have a VGA cable laying around this way you won't have to buy an HDMI cable.
By the way many TV's now days have a special menu called PC and that PC menu works with the VGA ports only since it knows that a PC is connected. if you use an HDMI cable than your TV doesn't have a clue what it is, it could be BluRay Player, Xbox, Playstation or DVD player. and there are advantages when it knows it is a PC connected because it adjusts itself a lot better.
But again there is nothing wrong with HDMI connection.

According to the specs for an HDMI to VGA HD 15 cable no it won't. "NOTE: this cable don't support signal from VCR, COMPUTER or LAPTOP output."

VGA Cable does support HD since I have my PC conncted to my 42" TV and I watch FULL HD movies using my PC's BlueRay Player

Vga MIGHT work if the tv has a vga port(something the author has not verified). I know my HDTV doesn't have one it uses a dvi port for the pc connection(many use dvi instead of vga). I have always used hdmi to connect my laptop to it as hdmi transfers both audio and video(vga is video only).
