Tool to discover servers

We are often tasked to do 'network discoveries' to find out what servers / workstations / network devices are on a lan.  Does anyone know of a tool that does this without having to install a client on the devices.  It would be ideal if we could get OS processor and disk space info..  Free or paid would be fine.
