Can a SATA AHCI PCI Card work with a RAID Mobo
Hi There
I have 5 sata ports on a ASUS M4A79T Deluxe motherboard. 1-2 have RAID0 HDD, 3-4 have optical drives, and the 5th is not picking up another HDD in a drive cradle.
The BIOS instructions seems to indicate that if I need to use 5th port I have to set BIOS to AHCI which I cant do because I have RAID running. I think a BIOS update may provide individually configurable ports but another solution would be a PCI card.
Can I use a PCI SATA controller card for the hot swap SATA cradle and run it using AHCI? All the controller cards seem to just offer RAID.
Any advice very welcome
