Hello,

I am hoping to create a couple of pages that will allow users to enter information, and that information will be emailed to my email account. Additionally, I need one of the pages to upload a photo as well.

I'm looking for an explanation of the best way of doing this, I have looked it up countless times, but I am getting lost in adapting code.

Can anyone provide me with the code I will need in order to do this? I have attached an image of the pages I need to script.  The first requires the user to enter their name, age and a sentence.  The second page requires the user to send their name, age, a photo, and a sentence.

I have coded basic sites using actionscript 2, but I have never created a form before.

Thank you very much for help with this!

are you using a backend to store the data in a database?
if so what?
if not are you just wanting it to me mailed to a specific address?

in terms of uploading the image - is that from the users harddrive to the server?

Hello,

Thank you for your response. I am hoping to receive the textual data in a specific email address. If it is possible to code the photo upload page so that it sends the uploaded photo to the same email account as the textual data, that would be ideal.  The photo would be coming from the user's hard drive.

I had a look at the tutorial that you posted, but I couldn't get the demo to upload the file successfully.

Your help is appreciated!

Hello,

I have a form working now that receives text and sends it via email to a specific address, now I am just trying to solve the issue of uploading a photo.

I tried uploading one of the image files that I attached to my first posting here using the tutorial you linked me to. It says it is uploading, but never completes, and it doesn't show progress.

Is there a simple way that users can upload a photo from their hard drive, and it will upload to my ftp or sedn it to my email?

Thank you so much for your help!

Hello. Are you using a backend script i.e. php or asp etc.
thing is (I've never tried it before) but if you look at the FileReference (which you use to upload a file) in order to send an attachment with the mail you need to use a backend script.

Hello,

I haven't built anything for the photo upload yet. I am still trying to understand the process and find the simplest method to do it. I have no experience with php or asp, will that affect the location that I upload the file to?

What is the backend script for?

Thank you!

the backend script allows you to send an email with an attaachment.
i.e the user gets to browse for a file on their hard drive and send that as an attachment. You CANNOT do it without the server side script.

first of all you need to decide what backend you are going to use based on what the server is that your product is going to run on. if you're hosting it on a service provider, contact them to find out if you don't know

you can have a look at something like xampp which is free which offers an apache server to run php files.

then once you decide if you want to use PHP, or ASP or JSP etc. then you can move forward from there.
There are thousands of tutorials available online once you've decided which route you want to go with.

PHP would be the easiest and theres a lot of resources, so just make sure PHP is / can be supported.
then a google search will get you started.
