Couldn't you use wipe.exe?

\techsup\windows\wipe.exe

The usage is as follows:

Wipe 6.8 (8297)
Copyright (C) 2003-2007 Altiris, Inc. All rights reserved.

wipe: wipe [-dN] [-pXX...] [-s] [-dod]
-dN wipe disk N (1-based, default=1)
-pXX... hex pattern, 1 or more bytes (default=00)
-s stamp drive with MBR showing not bootable when done
-dod write a pattern, its inverse, then random bytes
-quick wipe only the first and last track of the specified disk

In windows I can, Linux I can get a the Long 30 Hour wipe to work but not the -quick wipe. I am looking for something that I can run in minutes to just remove all the disk and drop a image on the desktops/laptops. So i'm either looking for an alternative to wipe or how to properly use the -quick wipe command in Linux to run this job before running RDeploy to image a workstation.

I should also point out that we are using Del computers and the reason for this wipe is to get rid of all the Dell OS etc on the boxes put our image on the workstations and get them out the door. Dell can have two partitions on the computers for the most part. some times we just see one partition which is why we would like to run a job beforehand to make everyone look alike.

I did finally got it to go I had to boot up with a windows xp disk format a c: partition and then reboot back into Linux pre-boot and run the command. I wonder tho if this matters when I have multiple partitions on the box?
