Antivirus software for VPS

Hi there,

We have a Virtual Private Server hosted professionaly. Although I've been told that the firewall on the VPS is very strong and that an anti-virus package is not necessary I'm of the opinion that it is. Any advice please? And any advice on an anti-virus package that won't clog the machine or affect performance? We are using Windows Server 2003 Standard x64 edition. We don't have Exchange Server enabled as we don't use this server for emailing. We only have our VB.NET app available on it for download by our customers. Our downloaded program also access this server for monthly updates of files.

Any advice would be great.

Many thanks,

You are right, even the most robust firewall is not enough in its own right.

I use Sophos on alll my server 2003 and 2008 environments and have had great luck:
