Format XML with XSL & import into Flash

Hi there.  Hope someone can help me out.  I successfully imported XML content into my Flash file (actions script 3 / CS4)... imported into a dynamic text box.  Now I just want to be able to format/stylize the text.  I've been searching the web and found that the best practice to go about this is to create an XSL file to format the XML.  I know you have to include the XSL within the XML doc.like this below, but I'm just having trouble overall seeing how to format the text in the XML file and associate it to the XML file.  Can you give me a short piece of code to show me simply how this all works?  Send me small bit of code for XML, XSL and let me know if using XSL will impact my action script in Flash at all.  **This is the best practice, yes?

 <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?>
<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">

Thank you!

XSL is another language completely.

I don't know the specifics of the language and in all my uses of it, it is slow in comparison to processing the file manually (via a DOM let's say).

Also, does Flash support XSL? Don't know.

The W3C school site (http://www.w3schools.com/xsl/) has a fairly gentle introduction to XSLT.

Maybe start with one of their examples to make sure it all works as expected inside Flash.

Then let's take a look at what you want to do.

Actually, I found out that Flash does NOT support XSL, and I found another option with Flash to import and style my dynamic text.  Thank you for your response however.

Another option would be to do the translation server side and then push this to flash.

Is that an option you could use?

If so, what server side environment do you have? Windows/Unix, ASP/PHP/Perl?
