Hi,

I was having trouble installing magento, so I decided to copy another existing magento site (from another computer) and modify it to become my new site.

now, the frontend opens fine with the url: when I try to login to admin using the url: http://localhost/chefmaha/. When trying to access the backend using: http://128.0.0.1/chefmaha/admin  and then entering the username and password, I get automatically redirected to: http://www.batteryland.net/index.php/admin/admin/index/index/key/8549e0d93481130c6b17e7305cf6f98a/?SID=84dhf0cendhb6erfcuvdftt1u1

(which is the url of the admin panel of the online site which I copied the local version of)

then when I try to access: http://127.0.0.1/index.php/admin/admin/index/index/key/8549e0d93481130c6b17e7305cf6f98a/?SID=84dhf0cendhb6erfcuvdftt1u1
I get automatically redirected to: http://127.0.0.1/xampp/splash.php

what could the problem possibly be?

solved it.

Just changed secure base url and unsecure base url  by altering the database table: core_config_data (changed them from http://www.batteryland.net/ to http://localhost/chefmaha/)
