Try to recreate the password file.

- Make not of the path to the htpasswd.users file (let's say for example: /usr/local/nagios/etc/htpasswd.users)
- delete the file
- type the following commands:

# htpasswd -c /usr/local/nagios/etc/htpasswd.users nagiosadmin
# ls -l /usr/local/nagios/etc/htpasswd.users
# chmod o+r /usr/local/nagios/etc/htpasswd.user
(don't forget to replace the path by the one on your system)

- restart httpd

You should now be able to login with user: nagiosadmin and the pass you were prompted for.

(Note: This will, of course, only work if you have root access to the server)
