Install DBD-Oracle on windows

Helllo,
I am trying to install Perl DBD-Oracle locally on my xp professional.
It has to be done locally because of firewall restrictions at my work place.
i followed the insructions on
http://www.experts-exchange.com/Programming/Languages/Scripting/Perl/Q_23145154.html?sfQueryTermInfo=1+dbd+instal+oracl+window
but could not make it work.
can any one provide me with the correct actions that needs to be done?
where can i get the files from?
what should i rename them to?
  should I un-zip them manually?
what is the command that I need to run?
Many thanks for your help

What version of perl?  I'll assume 5.8, because the post you refer is for 5.8.  If you have a different version, the steps would be the same, just download the appropriate files.
What distribution?  I'll assume ActiveState because of the tags.

Download this file, save it to C:\temp
    http://trouchelle.com/ppm/DBD-Oracle.ppd

Download this file, save it to C:\temp\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread-5.8
    http://trouchelle.com/ppm/MSWin32-x86-multi-thread-5.8/DBD-Oracle-1.19.zip

Start a command prompt.  Go to the C:\temp directory
    cd /d c:\temp

Install the module:
    ppm install DBD-Oracle.ppd

Download  DBD-Oracle-1.19  into c:|MSWin32-x86-multi-thread-5.8\DBD-Oracle-1.19

Run the command from c:\temp

Installing package 'DBD-Oracle.ppd'...
Error installing package 'DBD-Oracle.ppd': Could not locate a PPD file for package DBD-Oracle.ppd

Hi Again,
I have installed perl 5.10.1. Distribution - Active state instead of the old one.
I have saves file "DBD-Oracle.ppd" correctly.. as you requested with the name of c:temp\DBD-Oracle.ppd

Get the message:
ppm installed failed: The PPD does not provide  code to install for this platform.
Can you assist with that one as well?
Many thanks!
Tamir

The file must be named "DBD-Oracle.ppd" not "DBD-Oracle.xml".  Make that change first.

Next, the zip file needs to be in C:\temp\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread-5.8\DBD-Oracle-1.19.zip, not C:\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread-5.8\DBD-Oracle-1.19.zip.

This file is for perl 5.8, not perl 5.10.  If you want to use perl 5.10, you will have to find an already compiled version of DBD::Oracle, or compile it yourself (much more difficult).  It will be easier to continue with perl 5.8.
