Exchange 2010 OAB Error 0X80190194

Hello,

I am having a devil of a time getting these OAB errors to go away from my environment and was hoping for some guidance.  First, here is the error...

21:51:58 Synchronizer Version 12.0.6509
21:51:58 Synchronizing Mailbox 'Christopher Exline'
21:51:58 Synchronizing Hierarchy
21:51:58          1 folder(s) updated in online store
21:51:58          1 folder(s) updated in offline store
21:52:00 Done
21:52:38 Microsoft Exchange offline address book
21:52:38       0X80190194

Second, my environment consists of three Windows 2008 R2 servers.  One DC and two Exchange servers in a DAG, but it is not load balanced.  When I check in the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\ExchangeOAB" folder it has a directory "fdfa7f66-b876-4f62-ab46-b9e643c6900f" with files within that and specifically an OAB XML file.  This fdfa... directory is on both exchange servers.  Finally, both Exchange servers have the OAB directory shared but when I try to browse them from IE I get a 403 error.  Not sure if I should be able to browse these directories or not.

The OAB refresh time is set to the default of 480 min.
Any help would be appreciated!

Can you check the properties of the offline addess book how is it configured to be distributed?

Also check the properties of the mailstore have you specified the OAB here?

Also check out this blog here for some troubleshooting steps: http://blogs.msdn.com/dgoldman/archive/2006/11/27/Error-0x80190194-when-using-an-outlook-2007-client-to-download-a-web-distribution-enabled-oab.aspx

By default Exchange 2010 uses the "Microsoft Exchange File Distribution" service.  Please provide details on where to go and what to exactly to do change this configuration.

> Also check the properties of the mailstore have you specified the OAB here?
Yes, if you open the EMC and go to Server Configuration, Client Access they are configured correctly.

I am not an Exchange expert but would expect this to just always work.  Please provide addition instructions if you have any ideas.

Its not unusual to not be able to browse the Exchange Virtual directories.

Have you checked the blogpost?
OK you have misunderstood.

On the mailbox store you can set the OAB on a store level.

Right click the store select propertiesyou van then specify the OAB

see here for more details on how to configuee the OAB: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124719.aspx

Narayan Singh,

Thank you for your input.  I think what fixed it for me was adding 'Authenticated Users' to the C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14 \ClientAccess\OAB directory.  It did not have any 'Authenticated User' permissions so I simply added the read & execute access.  I did this on both of the CAS servers.

It would be useful to others to answer your other questions, so I have done so below.  I would kindly ask that you review my comments on the last question at the bottom and provide guidance on where and how to check these settings.

>Make sure Your exchange 2010 Mailbox server is OAB generating Server.

Yes, they are there with the proper files.  I created a second OAB just to make sure I could replicate the files and it too is shown.  Seems this isn't the issue.

>On CAS server restart Microsoft Exchange File Distribution service.

Done.  I did this on both CAS servers.

>Go to IIS > default website > and under OAB see if you have the folder with the same guid value.

Yes, both the default and new OABs are here.

>C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14 >client access > OABCheck if there is the folder with the same guid.

Yes, both the default and new OABs are here.

>and Authenticated users should have atleast read permission on OAB folder.(C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14 >client access > OAB)

No.  I fixed this on both CAS servers.

>Check the authentication type as below :1)Autodiscover: Basic and Integrated authentication   SSL Optional2) EWS : Integrated authentication                            NO SSL3) Exadmin : Basic and Integrated authentication       NO SSL4) Exchange : Basic and Integrated authentication      SSL Optional5) Exchweb : Basic and Integrated authentication       NO SSL6) Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync: Basic authentication   SSL Optional7) OAB : Integrated authentication                             NO SSL8) OWA : Basic authentication                                 SSL Optional9) Public : Basic and Integrated authentication          SSL Optional

I could not find where to check this setting.  I looked within IIS, Authentication but didn't see anything.  Can you please describe where to check this, just so I know?

Kindly,
Chris

Unfortunately those virtual directories wont exist in 2010 and you would check the settings under Server Configuration > Client Access for the different Virtual Directories.
I am suprised by this:

I ran through the steps you suggested and everything was setup fine.
