Running Windows 7 64-Bit - "An error occurred during port configuration. This operation is not supported"

Running Windows 7 64-Bit - getting the error message  "An error occurred during port configuration. This operation is not supported".  This occurs when trying to change printer configurations and when trying to use a printer within certain applications, particularly QuickBooks 2010.  Also receiving similar error messages when trying to delete or configure Virtual Printer Ports for USB.

Yes...    This is a sudden problem that cropped up....everything was working fine a few days ago...no major problems with the system till now...

Of course I can...   That isn't much of a solution though...    What is to say that it won't just happen again....

Solved the problem myself...   Quickbooks has a bug related to their newest service releases for QuickBooks 2009 & 2010...specifically to the PDF printer that is part of their system.  The following link explains the error:
