You cannot activate Terminal Services on SBS. This is by design.

In addition,
This one has me stumped, hence the high points value happy OEM CALs (for SBS 2008) ship with a 'tracking ID' in the place you'd normally expect to see a product ID/COA. The tracking ID is a 14 digit number but it will not be recognized by the activation wizard. I then contacted Microsoft tech support/licensing/partner support to find that they can't answer my query. Has anyone had the same problem (i.e. been unable to activate CALs because they have a tracking ID and not a product key)? I need a fix as soon as possible ..thanks in advance & happy point gathering!! These are Dell Win SBS CAL Ste User 5-CAL licenses... its it just the simple fact of contacting Dell and they will give me the necessary code?

Not sure what you mean exactly by 'TS' in this case.
Terminal Services, the service that allows multiple users to connect to a Windows Server and get their own 'desktop' to run applications does NOT work on SBS.

TS my abbreviation for Terminal Services
Perfect. So check the two links I posted, both official links from Microsoft.

I'm not trying to set up the SBS with roaming profiles or remote Desktops, the TS CALS are for remote ppl to connect to the server to check email, and Timberline. With SBS 2003, you were able to run there own desktops.... your saying the 2k8 doesn't allow this?
Both 2003 and 2008 do NOT allow this. From these links:
http://www.microsoft.com/canada/smallbiz/products/sbs/terminalservices.mspx
"The Situation
The Terminal Services in Application Mode component of Microsoft® Windows Server" 2003 operating system can deliver the Windows desktop from a centralized server to virtually any desktop computing device. This component is not available in Windows Small Business Server 2003."

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/sbs/evaluation/faq/term.mspx
"Q.      Can I run Terminal Services in Application Server mode on SBS 2003 R2?
A. No. It is not possible to run Terminal Services in Application Server mode on SBS 2003 R2. Running Terminal Services in Application Server mode on a domain controller presents a potential security risk to your network and so application mode is disabled. If you want to use Terminal Services in Application Server mode, we recommend that you purchase an additional Windows Server 2003 license and install an additional server running Windows Server into the SBS 2003 R2 domain. You could also run Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 on SBS 2003 R2 and then run Windows Server 2003 in terminal services mode within Virtual Server. See the Microsoft Web site for running a Terminal Server in a SBS environment. "
And finally for 2008 SBS:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd262139%28WS.10%29.aspx
"Windows Small Business Server 2008 (Windows SBS) Premium includes software to run on a second server. By enabling the Terminal Services role on the second server, users can access a terminal server from within a Windows SBS 2008 network or from the Internet."

Note the words "on a second server". So again, it does NOT allow you to run TS on your first SBS 2003/2008 server. You must have a second box just for that.

If you had this running it was some sort of hack (there are known ones for 2003 SBS for example).
Officially both 2003 and 2008 SBS do NOT allow TS. Simple as that. And I am not saying it. I am posting the official Microsoft take on it.

read the articles not really helping me, how do i add the CALs to the Server on SBS 2008?
i appreciate everything you are saying but, this 2008 sbs was working with 10 Terminal Service Cals before i had to rebuild it. SO how can i re-add these Cals... pretty please.
Again, if this server had TS installed on it, it was not done using official methods.
The SBS people can chime in and confirm what I am saying if you want to.

i built the server from the cd x64 sbs 2008 it installed Terminal server... i need to add the cals i have to it to deploy it i don't know how else to explain this...
Server has:
Terminal Services Folder under Administrative Tools
Remote Desktops
Terminal Services Configuration
Terminal Services Manager
TS Gateway Manager...

How do i add the Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2008 Client Access License Suite to the server, they are called that so i assume they are for SBS 2008... they are DELL CALS with 14 digit Tracking codes on them... please advise...
