I have Symantec Backup Exec installed on a server with a dedicated SQL Server2005 instance on the same server.

If I wish to uninstall these do I uninstall SQL first or Backup Exec?

Online documentation seems to say that it is a complex procedure.
Is there anything I should do to ensure uninstall works successfully.

You need to first uninstall Symantec Backup Exec followed by SQL instance.
Since you asked for a documentation, this should help you out..
