how do I put the NIC card in promiscuous mode using RealBasic

I'm trying to write my own version of TCP dump using RealBasic on an Apple machine.  Does anyone know how to put the NIC port into promiscuous mode?

Unfortunately for me, the article seems to talk about Microsoft OS.  I'm working with OS X.  However, the article has a lot of good information that I'm sure will be useful in the future.
