Is Windows 7 x64 SQL Client compatible with SQL Server 2005 32-bit?
We have SQL Server 2005 32-bit and want to allow access by a 64-bit Windows 7 client. Can this be done by just purchasing/installing a SQL Client 64-bit package on the new client?

My concern is whether a 64-bit client can successully access a 32-bit SQL Server.

Do you know if I have to buy a separate software package to get the x64 SQL client?
I don't think so all the essential Components comes along with the Package , even you can avail for free from Microsoft web site

Yes, thank you. That's what I had to do. Plus I had to go here:
http://www.sqlservercurry.com/2008/05/install-sql-server-express-64-bit-on-64.html
and uninstall Sql Native Client and install these 2 things.

I did get the answer that I needed, but only part of the "how," which I had to find myself. It was good to know it could be done and to use SQL Express, that is why I am still giving all 500 points. Without that info, I would not have known what to look for. Thanks.
