start/status/restart actually are arguments that would be fitting to a script residing in /etc/init.d/.... not as such for nxserver.

Your .../bin/nxserver ==> has argument --help to explain what it can do.

Now to give anybody access to your system you do actualy have to spread the private key around to be able to connect to the ssh server...

NXserver                                      Remote Client
SSH Server                                    SSH Client

did you include the private key in your nx profile (downloaded from the system where nxserver resides: /usr/NX/share/keys/server.id_dsa.key
)

You can also try to use ssh to the nx user on the nxserver... with -v
so that you see what happens allow the way.

ssh -v -i the-nxservers-private-key nx@nxserver.example.com

I've tried with this key and same problem.

"ssh -v -i the-nxservers-private-key nx@nxserver.example.com "

Please give me an actual example.

the private key is stored in a file, you need to mention the file it is stored in and the original for your system is here /usr/NX/share/keys/server.id_dsa.key

so kopy this to the file my-nx-key and use the   -i my-nx-key on the ssh command line to use it.

The problem is thatyou want public key, but because permissions are too broad the public key is ignored...
make the keyfile:

 chmod 600 my-nx-key     (rw-------) in stead of 644 (rw-rw-rw-)

What nx does is: ---

Logon with ssh to central.exampe.com as user nx (using a certificate, where the private key is sent to all clients).
then the central system starts an X session over the tunnel that is created

After the logon display is shown to the user (s)he can logon to the central system

Not sure why it appears in this log file?

is root allowed to login?

AFAIK is was meant for ordinary users and then you can sudo or su into root.
During login the root profile is built an then probably the root denial kicks in...

Changed user to shaunw(which is part of the shaunw and root gorups) and same issue. I can't find a /root/.xsession-errors .

Btw, I can login as yuser shaunw in UNIX mode/Gname.
Its only when I try shadow the session that this happens. It offers Display 0 and 2 and which ever I select this is the issue. I'm currently logged in as shaunw on the remote machine. Btw, how can I delete the Display 2?

if you login as shaunwingin, then the xsession error file is in
~shaunwingin/.xsession-errors

the error to login as Shadow session is: Check the state of your connection.

This is the file(~shaunw/.xsession-errors) right after the failed connection - but this error is not logged!?
