Adobe purchased Freehand a few years ago. The most recent version is Freehand MX which is available here: http://www.adobe.com/products/freehand/

However, I should note that since Adobe purchased Macromedia (the former owner of Freehand) they have not continued to develop or upgrade this program. It has been supersceded by Adobe Illustrator (http://www.adobe.com/products/illustrator/) which will import and edit any Freehand document back to Freehand version 7. I would recommend making the shift Illustrator which is currently the industry standard. Adobe is very good about file compatability between operating systems (i.e. Windows & Mac).

By what you're stating:

1. Adobe Illustrator  replaces Freehand MX

2. Freehand MX comes for Windows OS

3.  Adobe Illustrator will import and work with documents created in Mac  Freehand 10

Please confirm if these are true.

No 1: Adobe Illustrator & Freehand have been long-time competitors. They were pretty close rivals in the early days (when it was owned by Aldus). Illustrator gruadually emerged as the leader, and then several years ago, Adobe aquired Macromedia (primarily for its web applications). However, Freehand came along with the aquisition. There is no longer a need for one company to develop two products that compete against each other.

No 2: Yes...you can purchase the Windows version directly from Adobe through the link that I provided above. However, it is no longer supported or developed. This means that it may not be compatible with Windows Vista or Windows 7. Windows XP and earlier should be just fine.

No 3: I do not know all of the technical details involved in importing or opening Freehand documents with Illustrator other than I know it is possible. Adobe's official guide to FreeHand/Illustrator migration is available for you to read here:
http://www.adobe.com/products/illustrator/switch/pdfs/FreeHand_to_Illustrator_Migration_FAQ.pdf This should cover any additional questions you may have.
