mod_rewrite.so - how can i install ?

Using Centos and Apache2 and WHM
I got a strange problem, when i run this command : ./apachectl -l
i see mod_rewrite.c
however i cant find the file mod_rewrite.so using command : find / -name mod_rewrite.so
so i cant add it to my httpd.conf to enable mod_rewrite ,

any help is appreciated.

Under CentOS you will find it under


if apache was installed from source you will find it under


By default under apache mod_rewrie is enabled under httpd.conf you will find a line like this

LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so

you can check with

grep rewrite /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf

Note: By loading the rewrite module you still need to enable it either from a httpd.conf or from a ,htaccess file

RewriteEngine ON

then continue the rest of its configs
