BES 5 server issues after SP1 upgrade

I recently upgraded our BES 5 to BES 5.1 with the MR1 for the service pack...

after the install, none of the devices are receiving e-mails or syncing calendar anymore - when i try to re-activate my own device, the ETP.dat gets stuck in the Outlook inbox.

I can send PIN messages from the BAS and they will appear, but I cannot send Emails from the BAS, these messages wil only appear in the outlook inbox and not on the device.

All services are running like they should, there have not been any firewall/routing changes in the environment.

Does anyone know what might have happened or what i can do to resolve this?

It sounds like the connection to the messaging server has been lost.
Double-check the permissions and make sure they haven't been revoked.
Also double check the LDAP settings and authentication credentials.

Use the IEMStest.exe tool and handheldcleanup.exe tool (with a -u switch) to test the permissions and state of the BESAdmin mailbox.

Found out that the upgrade on the standby BES server also added the BMS which made things a bit hard for the BES servers.. I just had to uninstall the BMS service on the standby server and the issue was resolved.
